Self-compassion and cognitive flexibility in people with body dysmorphic disorder syndrome

Introduction: Negative body image and its adverse behavioral consequences are important public health concerns, studying effective psychological factors in formation is very important. Aim: The present research aimed to compare Self-compassion Cognitive flexibility people with without dysmorphic disorder syndrome. Method: study had a descriptive causal-comparative design. population consisted of all women men aged 18 40 Tehran 2022, from which sample 62 was selected by available purposeful sampling method (31 as group symptoms 31 disorder). Participants answered the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale modified for Body Dysmorphic Disorder: BDD-YBOCS (1997), Scale-Short Form (2011), Flexibility Inventory (2010). Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis variance, SPSS-25 software. Results: results showed that mean scores self-compassion (F=31.16, P=0.001, Eta=0.34) cognitive (F=31.24, Eta=0.18) significantly lower than there statistically significant difference between two groups (P<0.01). Conclusion: highlighted importance mechanisms disorder. These findings indicated psychotherapists should pay essential attention special attributes at time prevention treatment.
